A cool thing that came to my attention when recently reading through my textbook was how indispensable trade is in our economy and how beneficial it can be for a community. I always knew it was important to save time, but never really thought through the multiple different ways it can benefit people. Like how for a surgeon, it makes sense for him not to waste his specific medical skillset and knowledge on cleaning his gutters, or fixing his car, and instead trade or pay someone else with those skills to do those things for him. Therefore he is able to put his talents and training to use, and not waste the time he could use to save lives doing more mundane tasks that he is not trained for. This creates a much more efficient system for both parties involved.
This also makes me think of how cool it is that God has created us all with different interests and skills in the job field, and how that makes our economy running in this way so easy and natural. Not everyone wants to be a doctor, or a teacher, or a construction worker, but instead we each have different occupations we are drawn to. We all have some innate skills or interests and different prowess in certain areas depending on how God created us, and because of this we are able to each fit into the economic puzzle somehow. This also shows a reflection for me of how all believers are each gifted in different areas of the body of Christs, fulfilling different missions in the Church all for the glory of God.
