This movie is based on a true story about a wealthy stockholder who was living his dream life. Everything started going south when he began to get involved with crime and corruption. He would trick his clients, which many of them were close friends of his, to buy stocks using their name, but his money. He would then limit the supply and skyrocket the price. He would then have his employees sell the shares at the top market and the shares would drop significantly in value leaving the investors with tremendous losses, but he and his company "Stratton Oakmont" were able to make millions within minutes.
He ends up getting caught and serving time in prison
In this movie we see a variation of economics terms, a few of them being: trade, stock market, opportunity cost, amongst others.
At the end of the day economics really is everywhere, it just takes a certain amount of knowledge to recognize it.
