Consumerism runs our world as we know it. All year long, we consumers go to stores to purchase food, basic needs, and unnecessary wants. Buying things is the way the world runs. If we all stopped buying, the economy would fall, and the world would go into chaos. So by seeing that, we can agree that consumerism is not completely bad. By having a steady economy with plenty of economic growth, and flow we can have a healthy country with the proper funds and services to keep the world running. Although during the holidays, November and December, we see a growth in purchased goods. As CNBC states that 2020 sales rose by 8.3%, increasing from the following year. The NRF is expecting sales to rise between 11%-15%. We will also see a massive increase in sales on Black Friday. We saw a 21.6% increase in year-over-year sales last year. While I believe companies abuse Christmas, and it is taken out of context, I still find it fun, and in some ways, it helps the economy. While we all will stretch our budget and spend more over the next couple of months, the economy will adjust back to regular spending habits after the holidays.
