“If markets are built on a foundation of ethics, then society prospers. In the absence of that foundation, societies falter. When a government, business, and religious institutions see each other as complementary forces, then ethics can evolve” (Leightner, 2019, p. 1). We come across moral and ethical obligations in our daily lives. I think it is up to each individual's moral and ethical guidelines to determine what business they will or will not support. I am a firm believer that a business is morally and ethically sound they will not only succeed they will flourish. When business and society come together and compliment each other it is a win-win for each party. My family and I only give our business to deserving business owners. We live in a close-knit little suburb, and with social media, nothing gets by anyone in our town. “Stewardship is obedience to God’s mandate to increase his creation from something like a garden to something like a city, all the while remembering it is his” (Tow, 2014, p.1).
As far where our tax money goes, we can go to town meetings and support the congressmen and congresswomen who best reflect our interests, but we still have to pay taxes whether we like it or not. The only sure things in life are death and taxes.
“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it” (Luke 14:28, NIV)?

Hello Debora! I agree that ethics is foundational in any society, business, and even faith. In today's society, it is so easy to want to make a quick buck by any means necessary that it may be hard to draw the line on what is ethical and what is not (based on inner motivations and perceptions). Everyone is different, and each person has their own idea of what is right and ethical in their eyes. I am so glad that I live here in America, a country that is not perfect but one that STRIVES to treat the common man with inclusion and ethically. One of the proudest things I love about our country is our foundation of faith, and also it is the land of the free. But I also love how our government is one that in my opinion strives to be very ethical in this deomocracy. I love it!
