I walked into economics expecting it to be too difficult to function. I thought it would be all about finances and math, I had no idea what is was truly about. Economics taught me so much about business, entrepreneurship, the market, and so much more. Professor Baugus was excellent at making sure everyone understood every assignment and lesson. In fact, this was my favorite class this semester especially because of the comic lessons we had. My favorite assignment was a content essay where we got to pick a poor nation and examine the factors within the country that makes it poor. My country was Venezuela and while I was doing my research and examining this country, it really gave me a different perspective on how lucky we are here in America. The people of Venezuela are living in poverty and many families are starving while their government simply does not care. People in Venezuela are suffering from business closure, unemployment, violation in their human rights, and a major decline in productivity. The major problem with this country, which is the reason for poverty, is that the rely on their production in oil with no basic trade laws. The government of this country has no sympathy for their country and turn their heads to the casualties within it. That is why freedom is so important in a country, to give the people free will. When you view a country that is struggling and where the people of no free will, it really makes you feel blessed for what you have. Other than my favorite assignment, this class was full of many great assignments that helped me understand our lessons more.
